Absolutely! While we encourage applying for multiple roles, we strongly advise applying to the ones that you feel you’re best suited for. After all, you’ll only occupy one position at a time.
Have no fear! We’d love to hear from you and learn more about what you’re interested in. Submit your resume, cover letter, and any creative samples through our General Submission position. We’ll take a look at your stuff and see if we might open something up for you.
Definitely not. Send us any number of samples that you feel best speak to the position you’re applying for.
While our response times may vary, it’d be safe to assume that you’ll hear back from us in 1-2 weeks. Don’t worry — all applications receive a definite response — we won’t leave you hanging.
If you’ve successfully submitted an application, then you can rest assured that we’re pouring over it and will get back to you as soon as possible. We’d also be happy to speak to you directly in order to help you make the right choice. We’re only a few clicks and a few punches of the keyboard away!If you still have more questions, feel free to reach out to us and ask us anything regarding the application process. We mean it, there are no stupid questions.
Don’t worry! You don’t need to have any experience beyond the ability to read and write English to participate in our courses. If you’d like, we suggest trying out our Crash Course first. This half-length course would help you get an introduction to some of the basic topics in creative writing.
Yes! We offer one Crash Course, that provides an overview of the absolute basics. Our main courses (Courses 1 through 5) are all in increasing levels of complexity.
Our courses are designed for you to complete at your pace, so we leave it up to you to work on them in your own time. However, we suggest completing the Crash Course within 6 months, and perhaps taking no more than a year each for Courses 1 through 5.
Course 5 is our most advanced course. You are free to start with whichever course you prefer. However, if you do not have much experience with creative writing, we suggest you start with our Crash Course.
Our courses try to incorporate a good range of elements across the realm of creative writing. We try to provide you with an introduction into a broad range of genres and ideas. If, after taking our courses, there’s something more specific you wish you had learned, let us know! We’re always trying to improve our courses.
If you want a quick study of just the basics, we suggest looking into our Crash Course.
You are given one critique per assignment as part of your course package. If you would like your work to be evaluated multiple times, you are welcome to purchase as many additional writing critiques as you require.
Since these are self-paced courses, the workload is only as hard as you make it for yourself. If you’re finding the courses too heavy, we suggest trying to pace out your readings and assignments further apart. For more tips, hit us up!
If you are an active participant in the Forums, other members of our community might ask you to read their work. Of course, you may also do the same. However, you do not have to read another participant’s work as part of any course.
The Wandering Raven has assembled a team of open, thoughtful and experienced writers who regularly critique other people’s work. They all have a list of standard guidelines, used in university-level creative writing workshops, to follow for each piece they critique. If you have complaints about a critique of your work, please let us know, because we take this very seriously.
Our main reason for offering online courses was because of the flexibility they allow. They allow participants to complete class activities at any time of the day and from anywhere in the world with a working internet connection.
We accept payment through 2Checkout, or Cash/ Cheques in select situations.
Information on course material and prices for each course can be found on each respective course page. Why not join our mailing list to receive news about special offers and discounts?
We’ve set our prices based on quality and affordability. We want to bring the arts to as many people as possible, and for this we charge only as much as we need to keep ourselves afloat. Please keep in mind that we’ve assembled a team of hardworking individuals who work on call 24/7 to provide you with the best experience possible.
Since classes are self-paced, we hope that you’ll reconsider withdrawing from your course. You can always take a break when things get too busy, and come back to it later. However, if you are sure about withdrawing, there is no official procedure. You may simply stop completing your course activities.Refunds are generally not allowed, but may be given on a case-by-case basis in special situations. This is solely to prevent individuals from accessing our courses to steal content, and to encourage participants who are serious about writing to join our community. For appeals, contact us!
